In the dimly lit interior of Eolande's cottage, Ciaran hovered on the edge of consciousness. His mind was adrift in a sea of pain and confusion, barely clinging to the fragments of reality. Through the haze of his suffering, he became dimly aware of voices conversing nearby.

Eolande's voice, tinged with urgency, was speaking to someone else – a man whose presence seemed to fill the room with a palpable sense of power.

"Master, you shouldn't be here. I can manage this," she said, her tone a mixture of respect and concern.

The man's voice was deep and resonant, carrying an air of authority that seemed to transcend the ordinary.

"I heard about what happened. Refusing to have your blood taken, even at the brink of death – that's an act of bravery. Of all those I've created, Ciaran, you prove the most deserving."

Ciaran's mind struggled to process the words.

'Created? What does he mean?'

His thoughts were a jumble of pain and disorientation.

Eolande's voice grew more insistent. "Please, you must leave. It's dangerous for you to stay here too long. And I apologize for not keeping Ciaran safe. This won't happen again."

The man's response was grave. "They want to get to him, Eolande. They will find a way, sooner or later." There was a pause before he continued, "As for his injury, I'm not sure you have the power to fix it. I might need to use my energy to help."

Eolande's plea was almost a whisper. "Master, please reconsider. The consequences..."

Their conversation was abruptly interrupted as the man approached Ciaran's bedside. Even through his blurred vision, Ciaran could sense the man's formidable presence.

"Ciaran, would you accept healing magic from me?" the man asked.

Ciaran recalled the healing magic Ivy had used on him once. He remembered the side effects, the emotional bond it created between two individuals, the trust it required.

Trust he wasn’t ready to give to a stranger, to this so-called 'Master'.

With a surge of defiance fueled by pain and suspicion, Ciaran's voice rasped hoarsely. "I don't know you, nor do I trust you."

"I'm not asking for your trust, Ciaran. I'm asking you to accept my healing magic. Without your words of acceptance, the magic won't work."

"My parents created me. I am not some prize to be claimed. You didn't create me."

"You're starting to hallucinate, Ciaran. The poison is spreading fast. I have to stop it now. Just say yes to my request. Just one word, Ciaran."

"One word? Fuck-off."

Ciaran lay there, his body wracked with pain and his mind consumed with confusion and distrust. The offer of healing was tempting, but the unknowns were too many and the risks were too great. His thoughts drifted to his family, to Ivy and Killian, to the life he was fighting to protect.

As the conversation faded into the background, Ciaran's consciousness slipped away once more.
